What we build

Whole-Home Remodeling in San Antonio

Major renovations that touch several rooms at once, coordinated so the trades work in the right order.

Overview

Several rooms, one plan, one team

A whole-home remodel touches several rooms at once: kitchen, bathrooms, living spaces, ceilings and lighting. The order the trades work in matters as much as the finishes. Ceilings and wiring before paint, plumbing before tile, one room ready before the next is opened up.

ABIA plans the whole house as one project, so each room is done in the right sequence and nothing is done twice. The ceiling and lighting projects on this page are whole-home work: open joists, exposed pipes and loose wiring closed in with a finished ceiling and recessed lighting.

Project types

Three ways to take on a whole home

  • Before you move in

Renovating a home you have just bought while it is empty, so you move into a finished house.

  • Room by room, planned as one

The work phased so you can live in the home, with every phase planned from the start.

  • Top to bottom

Every room taken on in one project, coordinated so the trades follow each other in order.

How a project runs

How a whole-home remodel runs

  1. 01Talk

We start with your space, your goals and how you want it to work, so the project is understood before anything is priced or planned.

  2. 02Plan

Scope, design options and the order of work are set out together, so you know what is being built and how it will come together.

  3. 03City Involvement

Where the work needs it, city approval, plan review and meetings with the city come before construction starts.

  4. 04Build

The work is coordinated and managed on site, with regular updates so you always know where the project stands.

  5. 05Finish

Final details are completed and the finished space is walked through with you before the project is closed out.

How each stage works

Why work with ABIA

  • One team, start to finish

The same team plans, coordinates and manages your project, so nothing is lost between the first conversation and the last detail.

  • Clear communication

You know what is happening, what comes next and who to ask, before, during and after the build.

  • Options before construction

Layouts, finishes and design alternatives are talked through early, while changes are still simple to make.

  • Craftsmanship you can see

Straight lines, clean transitions and finished details. The photographs on this site are the argument.

Cost

What shapes the cost of a whole-home remodel

No two projects are priced the same. These are the things that move the number, and the estimate is built from your space and your choices, after we have seen them.

Questions

Whole-Home Remodeling: common questions

If yours is not here, ask it in the form and we will answer it directly.

All questions and answers
01Can we live in the house during a whole-home remodel?

Often, yes, when the work is phased so part of the home stays usable. If you have not moved in yet, doing the work while the house is empty is simpler for everyone.

02Should we do everything at once or in phases?

Both work. All at once is usually simpler in an empty home. Phases suit a household living there. Either way, every phase is planned up front so the work fits together.

03How do you keep several trades coordinated?

One team plans the order of work and manages it on site, with regular updates, so you are not the one scheduling electricians around tile setters.

04Will a whole-home remodel need city approval?

Many do, especially where walls, structure or systems change. Where it is needed, city approval and plan review come before construction starts.

05Where do we start?

With a walk through the house and a conversation about how you want to live in it. The scope, design options and order of work come out of that.
